Requesting patience ASAP
Patience is not a popular word in this day and time we live in. We are used to instant solutions to most every problem or challenge we face. Smartphones, AI, PDF files (instead of paper), and the Internet in general save time, as well as paper.
Everything from banking to medical care to shopping can happen through your computer or phone. It seems that we have more time-saving devices and resources than ever before in my 51+ years of existence.
This presents the question: Why do we seem to have so little time to accomplish anything or to even enjoy life? People seem more anxious than ever in this day in time. A big example I see is driving through my home town of Nashville. I can barely accelerate to the speed limit on the interstate without feeling like I am about to be run over or feeling like I am in another driver's way.
But some principles of life ring just as true as they did in decades long gone:
There is no substitute for hard work. Persistence and patience build character and responsibility. Choosing a shortcut simply will not cut it.
There will be times that we have to wait ... On medical test results, medical appointments, traffic jams, at the post office, whether you got the job following the interview, you get the picture.
Having to wait is not a good thing, but we can make it work for good. One of my favorite books in the Bible is the one that matches my name: The book of James in the New Testament. Consider the following passage from this book:
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
Put simply, life's challenges can build us up and make us stronger.
When the challenges come, work to overcome them. But view them as opportunities to overcome and to move up in this world that we live in.
